Method

Start by making the syrup: combine sugar, water, and lemon juice in a saucepan, bring to a boil until the sugar dissolves, then simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes after boiling, and let it cool.

For the dough, whisk together all ingredients except the flour. Gradually add the flour and knead until you have a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into portions about the size of a walnut. Roll each piece into a long strip, fill with nuts, roll it up, and flip it seam-side down.

Make cuts on top with a knife, bring the ends together, and place an almond on top. Arrange on a baking sheet.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until golden brown.

Five minutes after taking it out of the oven, drizzle with the cold syrup. Let it sit for 2 hours before serving.
