Method

Slice the bread and remove the crusts.

Lightly oil a bowl and line the inside with the bread slices, fitting them tightly together with no gaps.

Combine the berries with powdered sugar, a couple of tablespoons of water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, turn off the heat, and let steep.

Pour the berries and their juices into the bread-lined bowl and top with a bread "lid".

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, weigh it down with a heavy object, and refrigerate overnight.

Just before serving, lightly whip the cream, fold in a little sour cream, and add a drop of vanilla extract. Invert the pudding onto a plate and serve with this cream.
