Skillet Smetannik Cake

Method

In a bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and sour cream.

Add the melted butter and stir to combine.

Mix in the flour and baking powder, then knead into a soft dough.

Divide the dough into 6–8 equal portions.

Roll each portion out into a thin round to fit your skillet.

Cook the layers in a dry, preheated skillet for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden spots appear.

Let the finished layers cool down.

Whip the sour cream with powdered sugar and vanilla sugar until smooth.

Generously spread cream over each layer.

Stack the layers on top of each other.

Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining cream.

Garnish with crumbs from the trimmed edges, nuts, or grated chocolate.

Refrigerate the cake for at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight.
