Rice, Apple, and Raisin Casserole

Method
Bring the milk to a boil, add the rice, and cook over medium heat until tender (20–25 minutes); remove from heat, stir in the butter, and mix well.
Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Whisk the yolks with the sugar and vanilla sugar, add them to the rice, and mix thoroughly.
Peel and core the apples, then dice them. Grate the carrots on a medium grater.
Add the apples, carrots, and raisins (soaked for 20 minutes beforehand) to the rice mixture.
Whip the egg whites into peaks and gently fold them into the rice mixture.
Grease a baking dish with butter, spread the mixture evenly, and smooth the top.
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes. Let cool before serving.
