Heat a little vegetable oil in a pot.

Cut the potatoes and onion into large chunks, add them to the oil with bay leaves, and season with salt.

Sauté the vegetables, then pour in boiling water to just cover the potatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Add the canned beef with its fat, stir, and bring to a boil. Cook for another 7-10 minutes until the potatoes are tender.

Remove the pot from heat, grate the tomato and add it to the dish along with fresh dill.
