Method
Slice the pork into small steaks and tenderize both sides with a meat mallet.
Season the meat on both sides with salt and spices (garlic powder, pepper, and paprika).
Whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and soy sauce, adding a pinch of salt.
Cut the onion into half-rings.
Pan-sear the meat in batches over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
In a clean deep skillet, layer the ingredients: start with the seared meat, spread the sour cream sauce over it, and top with onions. Repeat the layers until everything is used up.
Pour water over the top, cover with a lid, and place over medium heat.
Once it comes to a simmer, reduce the heat to low and braise for 1–1.5 hours. Do not stir.
