Method

To make the dough, combine the sour cream, butter, flour, and baking soda until smooth. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions, roll out the layers, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until lightly golden.

For the frosting, beat the butter until it increases in volume. Gradually add the sugar and sour cream, continuing to whip until light and fluffy.

Chop the prunes (using a food processor or by hand) and fold them into the majority of the frosting. Reserve a small amount of plain frosting for the top layer.

Assemble the cake, generously spreading the prune frosting between the layers. Frost the top with the reserved white cream.

Let the cake rest at room temperature for 3 hours, then refrigerate for 12–24 hours to allow it to fully set and soak through.
