Nut Sherbet Dessert

A traditional Middle Eastern shortcrust pastry with nuts, generously soaked in sugar syrup with lemon juice. A wonderful tea-time treat for lovers of rich and sweet pastries.

Method

Using the ingredients, knead a soft dough that does not stick to your hands.

You can fold the nuts directly into the dough or use them as a filling.

Shape the pastries, place them on a baking sheet, and bake at 175°C (350°F) with convection until golden brown.

For the syrup, combine water and sugar, and bring to a boil.

Once boiling, add the lemon juice, simmer for 10 minutes, and remove from the heat.

Let the baked pastries rest for 5 minutes, then pour the cold syrup over the hot pastries.

Let them soak for 1–2 hours before serving.
