Method

Remove the outer leaves of the Napa cabbage. Cut the head lengthwise into quarters and finely chop each section. Transfer the shredded cabbage to a mixing bowl.

Core and deseed the bell pepper, then cut it into a small dice. Wash the cucumber, pat it dry with a paper towel, and cut it into quarters.

Add the bell pepper and cucumber to the bowl with the cabbage.

Cut the ham into strips or thick matchsticks, and add them to the rest of the ingredients.

Drain the liquid from the canned corn, and add the corn to the bowl.

Dress with mayonnaise, adding salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Toss all the salad ingredients thoroughly. Let the salad chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.

Transfer the salad to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh parsley or dill before serving.
