Method
Soak the breadcrumbs in milk or cream and let sit for 5-10 minutes until fully absorbed.
Finely chop the onion and garlic, then mix them with the ground meat, squeezed breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and finely minced herbs.
With wet hands, shape the mixture into small, neat balls slightly larger than a walnut.
Place the prepared meatballs into a hot skillet with preheated vegetable oil and fry over medium heat until a nice golden crust forms, turning them occasionally.
Once cooked, transfer the meatballs to paper towels to drain any excess fat.
Take the lingonberries (if frozen, thaw them in advance). Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan and add the berries along with the sugar.
Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes over low heat, stirring regularly.
Dissolve the starch in a small amount of cold water and slowly pour it into the berry mixture while stirring vigorously to prevent lumps.
Bring the sauce to the desired thickness, bring back to a boil, and cook for literally one to two minutes.
