A traditional Eastern treat of nuts encased in a thick, reduced fruit glaze. A wonderfully healthy snack to enjoy with tea.

Method

1

String the nuts onto a thread, forming strips about 40 cm long with a loop at the top for easy hanging.

2

Pour 1.5 liters of juice into a saucepan and bring to a boil.

3

Mix the remaining juice with flour and sugar, thoroughly whisking out any lumps.

4

Pour this mixture into the boiling juice and cook for 20–25 minutes, stirring constantly.

5

Let the mixture cool slightly, then dip the nut strands twice so the syrup coats them evenly.

6

Hang them up to dry—the time depends on the thickness of the layer, usually a couple of days are enough.
