Homemade Apple "Honey" for Winter

An aromatic, amber-colored dessert made from apples and sugar that makes a wonderful substitute for jam and goes great with tea.

Method

Wash the apples and cut them into quarters, leaving the cores intact. Cut away only any bruised spots.

Cover the apples with water so they are completely submerged.

Cook until completely soft and broken down.

Strain the juice through cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.

For every 1.5 liters of juice, add 1 kg of sugar.

Simmer down until syrupy and thickened.

Pour into sterilized jars and seal tightly.

Once cooled, the apple "honey" will thicken and take on the consistency of jelly or soft marmalade.
