Method

Hard-boil the eggs for 10 minutes, then cool and peel them.

Clean the herring thoroughly to remove all bones.

Peel the apple and remove the core.

Run the herring, apple, onion, eggs, and dill through a meat grinder. Alternatively, you can chop everything finely with a knife or blend it.

Mix in the softened butter and combine well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately with bread or store in the refrigerator for up to three days.
