Method

Pour or place a little oil into a saucepan and heat it up.

Add the rice and stir well so each grain gets slightly warmed and coated in oil. Sauté the rice for literally 1–2 minutes.

Separately, bring water to a boil in a kettle.

Pour the boiling water over the rice at a ratio of about 1.8 to 2 cups of water per 1 cup of rice.

Add salt and spices, if using.

Cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, reduce the heat to the absolute minimum, and set a timer for exactly 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, turn off the burner, uncover the pan, and fluff the rice.

If you happen to notice a little water left or the rice feels slightly underdone, simply cover it again and let it sit for a few more minutes.
