Method
Thaw the pastry according to the package instructions.
Grease a baking dish with butter.
Using a pastry brush, brush a sheet of phyllo with melted butter and fold it accordion-style. Repeat this for each sheet. You can tuck 1-2 berries into the folds if you like. Be sure to keep the phyllo sheets you aren't currently working with covered under a towel so they don't dry out.
Once your pastry rose is assembled, slice the apples and tuck the slices between the folds.
Make the custard. Whisk the eggs with the sugar, then pour in the heavy cream and mix thoroughly again.
Pour the mixture evenly over the pie, making sure it reaches all the layers.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes, keeping an eye on it until it looks just right.
Once out of the oven, dust the pie with powdered sugar and let it cool for 40 minutes.
