Method

Finely chop the onion. Slice the sausages into rounds about 1 cm thick. Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear and drain well.

Place the uncooked rice in a deep skillet. Add the onion, sausages, frozen vegetable mix, grated cheese, tomato sauce, and curry powder. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.

Pour in the apple juice and water so that the liquid almost covers the rice. Mix well. Cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil.

Once boiling, cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Turn off the heat and let the rice steam, covered, for another 10 minutes.

Fluff the rice. Place a whole wheel of Camembert in the center (you can lightly score the rind in a crosshatch pattern). Cover and let sit for 10 minutes so the cheese softens completely.

Break apart the melted Camembert and stir it into the rice. Top with an onsen tamago or a poached egg.
