Method

In a small bowl, whisk the egg with the sugar. Add the milk, oil, cocoa powder, flour, and baking powder, and mix until smooth.

Use ceramic cups or mugs, and grease them with vegetable oil.

Pour the batter into the mugs, filling them about 2/3 full. If desired, drop chocolate chunks or chocolate chips into the center.

Place the mugs in the microwave on high power and cook for 1.5–2 minutes. Keep an eye on them so the muffins don't overflow.

Let the muffins cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or top with your favorite toppings.
