Slice the oranges into thin rounds and place them in a large saucepan or pot. First, scald with boiling water, then drain.

Cover with sugar and add a splash of water to prevent burning.

Simmer over low heat for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.

For the dough, beat the butter, egg, sugar, and flour together using a mixer.

Shape the dough into a ball, roll it out to a thickness of 0.25 inches (0.6 cm), and cut out circles slightly larger in diameter than the orange slices.

Arrange the dough circles on a baking sheet, top each with an orange slice, and bake at 340°F (170°C) for about 15-20 minutes.

Let cool completely.

Dip each cookie halfway into dark chocolate and chill in the refrigerator until set.
