Melt the butter and set it aside to cool. Thaw the frozen cherries and drain off any excess liquid.

Whisk the eggs, sugar, and salt with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes until the mixture is fluffy and pale. Add the cream, milk, melted butter, vanilla, and sifted flour. Mix again with the mixer for about a minute.

Grease a baking dish with butter and lightly dust it with sugar. Place the cherries on the bottom and pour the batter over them. Bake at 180°C for about 35 minutes—the exact time depends on your baking dish. Check for doneness by looking for a golden crust or by inserting a wooden skewer.
