Method

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda, folding gently until just combined into a uniform dough.

Fold in the chocolate chunks, reserving a few for topping.

Roll the dough into balls, space them out on the baking sheet, and press down slightly. Sprinkle with the reserved chocolate.

Bake for 14–16 minutes until the edges are set and golden, while the centers remain slightly soft.

Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack—they will firm up to achieve that ideal texture.
