Method

Rinse the berries, sort them, and place them in an enameled pot along with the cherry leaves.

Cover with water and bring to a boil for 10 minutes.

Add sugar and 2 teaspoons of citric acid, then simmer over low heat for another 20 minutes.

Let the syrup cool, strain it through a sieve, and add half a liter of vodka to it.

Pour into bottles and let it sit for at least a couple of days before tasting, though 2 weeks is ideal for the best flavor.
