Method

Sort through the blackberries, remove unripe and dry berries, and rinse thoroughly in multiple changes of water.

Pat dry, layer the berries with sugar, gently shake, and let sit for 1–2 hours to release their juices.

Once the juices appear, place the pot over heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, skimming off the foam and preventing scorching.

Immediately pour the boiling jam into sterilized, dry jars and seal with lids.

Cool at room temperature and store in a cool place.
