A delicious vegetable sauce made from tomatoes and bell peppers with garlic and spices, which makes a great substitute for store-bought ketchup.

Method

Pass the peeled tomatoes through a meat grinder.

Seed the red bell peppers and also pass them through the meat grinder.

Mince the garlic through the meat grinder into a separate bowl.

Combine the tomatoes and peppers in a pot, pour in the vegetable oil, and add the sugar, salt, black pepper, and ground red pepper.

Place over heat, bring to a boil, and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.

Add the garlic and 70% vinegar, and cook for another 2 minutes.

Ladle the hot Appetitka into sterilized jars and seal with sterilized lids.

Wrap the jars in a blanket until they cool completely.
