Method

Mix all your ingredients together, then gradually add flour until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Pour in the remaining butter from the cup, work it into the dough until completely smooth.

Let it rest for 1 hour to rise.

Oil your work surface generously with olive oil.

Transfer the dough to the oiled surface, oil your hands, and stretch it out into a large rectangle.

Spread softened butter evenly over the top and smooth it out with your hands.

Fold the dough together, shape it, and cut it into 12 pieces.

Form them as shown in the video, arrange on a baking sheet, and brush with a mixture of egg yolk, molasses, and butter.

Let proof for 30–40 minutes, or up to 1 hour in a cool spot.

Bake in a preheated 350°F (180°C) oven for about 40 minutes.

Once baked, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let cool.
